High blood pressure symptoms - High blood pressure treatment
Is my blood pressure too high not to be on treatment?
I saw my family doctor today for a check up after one of those supermarket blood pressure checks gave a reading of 165 / 90
My doc found that my blood pressure was only 145 / 89 on his machine - he used one of those old fashioned pumping up kind of BP machines.
He said that I did not need treatment at the moment and that all I should do was have it checked again in about a month. He also gave the usual old guff about weight loss, smoking etc … yeah, yeah, I know ….
Anyway - I need to know if what he says is correct. If my blood pressure is 145 / 89 do I need to go on treatment now?
Welcome to The Pressure Point.
My name is Doctor Gordon Cameron and I'm a doctor based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I specialize in blood pressure treatment for two reasons:
Firstly - I see many thousands of people with the condition each year and I understand the problems that high blood pressure and its treatment can cause.
Secondly, I suffer from raised BP myself and take treatment every day so I really do understand the problems from both sides of the equation. I've taken pretty much every medication on the market at one time or other, and have used or tried most of the natural remedies and cures.
