High blood pressure symptoms - High blood pressure treatment
I know that eating more fruit and vegetables is good for you but does anyone actually have a list of fruits and vegetables that lower blood pressure.
I’m thinking of things like tomatoes and beetroot - I’ve read that both of them are good at lowering blood pressure levels but I’m sure their must be more than that.
Can anyone give - or point a link to - a fuller list of all the fruits and vegetables that are good for you if you have problems with high blood pressure.
I want to experiment to see if adding certain fruits and vegetables can reduce blood pressure levels
Welcome to The Pressure Point.
My name is Doctor Gordon Cameron and I'm a doctor based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I specialize in blood pressure treatment for two reasons:
Firstly - I see many thousands of people with the condition each year and I understand the problems that high blood pressure and its treatment can cause.
Secondly, I suffer from raised BP myself and take treatment every day so I really do understand the problems from both sides of the equation. I've taken pretty much every medication on the market at one time or other, and have used or tried most of the natural remedies and cures.
Join me as we share blood pressure experiences and find a way to keep you healthy and well.

The red colour in tomatoes is due to a chemical or group of chemicals called LYCOPENES.
Lyocopenes have been shown to reduce blood pressure by as much as ten points.
You can eat more tomatoes or you can take lycopenes in capsule form
Look for LYCOMATO in your pharmacy. It does seem to work to lower blood pressure in a natural way

I think the effects of many foods like beetroot that lower blood pressure are temporary. If it was so simple we could all eat a whole list of special foods to lower blood pressure and we’d be cured.
It’s more important to eat a balanced and varied diet overall. If you don’t eat enough fruit and veg try to improve the balance… but stuffing your diet with specific foods probably won’t do much good in the long run.

My problem is that with arthritis if I eat fresh tomato it inflames my joints and they become painful so while tomato helps one thing it aggravates another.

For lowering blood pressure. Go green! Leafy vegetables :- Swiss chard, Broccoli, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Spinach, Lettuce contain lots of vitamins and minerals. Broccoli contain fiber and folic acid too.
After vegetables, fruits are the best thing to include in your regular die :- Citrus Fruits, Apples, Bananas. Apple play the role of antioxidants. Apples also contain fiber and flavonoids.

hi i am having this experiment on myself. im in normal weight and still in my sweet 27. i was diagnosed with hypertension. i don’t believe that there is no cure on such disease. i am actually going to the basic the gradeschool lesson of go grow and glow foods… i shifted on a vegetarian diet from my careless fatty and salty diet plus daily pressures and stress which i got my hypertension. all foods now taken are naturally fruits and vegetable. i am also taking 1clove of garlic with lemon when i wake up and before i go to sleep. sometimes yoga, deep breathing exercises and 15minute-jogging daily… however before i had these diet and lifestyle lists my doctor prescribed me with propranolol 3 times a day. while taking the meds and religiously following my vegetarian diet my blood pressure seriously went very low. it reached 90/60 from 140/90. my doctor asked me to return after three months so what i did was cut my medications to two times a day and sometimes once a day but still my blood pressure really falls very low. after a month and half i will visit my doctor and see if i can now cut off my medication. ergo i believe that diet and lifestyle changes are really very helpful in lowering our blood pressure. just email me at erika_cass@yahoo.com if you ask for some help. i am very much willing to help… i am also a member of vegweb.com there are a lot of tips on living a healthy lifestyle…

Fruits and vegetables that are known to produce the most effective results include:
Avocado: Also known as the “Alligator Pear”. Avocados are rich in potassium. Ensuring you take in sufficient amounts of potassium can also help to protect you from other cardiovascular problems like heart attacks and strokes. The name avocado is derived from the Aztec word “ahuacatl”
Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain lycopene and it is this powerful antioxidant which can help prevent heart disease and stop cholesterol from clogging up your arteries and increasing your blood pressure.
Potatoes: In addition to being rich in potassium UK scientists have discovered compounds, in potatoes, called kukoamines which are also very effective in combating hypertension.
Broccoli: Is rich in calcium and magnesium. Additionally researchers have now discovered broccoli is a rich source of glucoraphanin which boosts the body’s antioxidant defence mechanism and as a result can remedy major health problems such as high blood pressure and
