High Blood Pressure

Hello again - welcome back to The Pressure Point. Don't forget that you can ask your own questions and see it appear on the site - just use the button top left and follow the instructions. Thanks for visiting .... !

I am 60 years old. Untreated my bp would be 155/105. I have tried various meds and most control the bp quite well. The problem is that after 6 weeks or so on meds, I experience muscle fatigue and pain similar to a lactic acid build up. This also affects my breathing. It’s debilitating. Any ideas?

Could you tell me why my BL/PRESS is high first thing after getting out of bed 200/104 then during the day drops to a more manageble 150/80, Iam a 65 year old male that only went to the docters with a finger nail problem, when he checked my bl/press it was he said high at 200/105, since then I take it in the morning when it can vary between 195/95 to 175/88, but my best readings are in the evening 145/72 to 155/73, I have refused pills as I do not want to take anything long term, and I am trying other things like diet and exercise, I think that if I had visited my GP in the evening instead of early morning every thing would be OK.

I have been suffering with shoulder pain recently and went to an orthopedic doctor who gave me a joint injection with steroid. This worked but since then I’ve been getting high readings on my home blood pressure monitor.

Are these things connected?

Can  steroid joint injections cause me to develop higher blood pressure?

Can low blood pressure cause me to feel tired all the time?

Some websites say that fatigue is associated with low blood pressure - others say that high blood pressure can cause it too - so which is it then? Am getting confused.

I just know that I feel washed out and tired all day - my blood pressure readings are mostly around 100 on the top number and 75 on the bottom.

Do I need to take medication. How can I clear these fatigue feelings?

I live in the UK - how can I find a blood pressure specialist doctor?

My family doc is great but I cant really expect her to know all the answers about blood pressure. To be fair I think my levels are pretty good and I check every day with a monitor I bought online.

But I still feel I would be better off seeing a specialist in blood pressure treatment?

Can I just ask my GP to send me to someone or should I go about it in another way?

Can anyone tell me what the connection is between joint pains and blood pressure problems? Could it be my medication - or will high blood pressure cause my pains all on its own?

Ever since I found I had BP problems I’ve noticed pains in my joints and muscles. They are often worse in the evening but can also happen at other times. Sometimes I get cramps in my legs at night - but not every night.

I checked for this online and some articles say that it might be due to my meds - others blame salt in my diet or just the blood pressure problems themselves.

I also feel fatigued and low in mood most of the time. Help … anyone ?

My question is whether pain from the neck can cause my blood pressure to go up?

I injured my neck in a car accident - kind of like a whiplash neck injury I suppose - and since that time my blood pressure readings have been higher on the Omron monitor I use at home.  I’m also taking some pain killer meds so maybe they are part of the problem.

Can neck pain cause an increase in blood pressure levels? If so, what should I do about it?

I’ve just discovered this new site devoted to low blood pressure.

You can find info about high blood pressure or hypertension all over the web but getting good quality stuff about the other end of the BP scale is more difficult.

Hypotension or low blood pressure causes a lot of symptoms including fatigue and dizziness. Treatment options are sometimes limited but don’t forget that it can be sometimes caused by medications. Is your BP too low? Find out more about it ….

I am a 72 year old female, 5′7″, 133 lbs. I am in reasonably good health but am on Actonel for bone density loss. For several months now my blood pressure will suddenly rise to as high as 210/124 and last for several minutes then gradually decrease to somewhers around 130/80. This happens once or twice a day at different times but never when I am sleeping. Usually when I am sitting down. Sometime I may go several days without an episode. If I get up and rub my abdomen or lay down and rub it the pressure seems to come down within five or six minutes of peaking. My Dr. has me on Toporol XL 25mg twice a day, but I don’t believe that this is working to do anything. Pulse rate stays between 65 and 80. Dr. either can’t find anything or has no idea what is causing this.

I just want to know what it mean to have blood pressure of 92/56 and pulse of 56, with chest and back pains and nausua?
